A large number of trusted authentication certificates are included with every browser installation, but it is not likely that the UCSD Certificate Authority is among them, as it is little used outside the University.
Adding the UCSD CA signing certificate will tell your web browser to trust certificates that have been issued and signed by the UCSD Certificate Authority. These may be presented by various campus web sites, which will enable them to operate with enhanced encryption and security to protect your data transactions.
For Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, and most other browsers,

Download UCSD CA certificate in x509-ca-cert autoinstall format.
You should be prompted to add the presented certificate to your browser's
trust cache.

UCSD CA in plaintext PEM format or UCSD CA in binary DER format, or UCSD CA in Eudora-compatable CER format,
Most browsers will guide you through the process of installing this certificate. What needs to be done is to add the certificate to the list of signing authorities your browser already recognizes.
Other applications may sometimes need this certificate, typically in the PEM format. When needed, you may download the PEM format above, or cut and paste the following: (be sure to include the BEGIN and END lines in their entirety).
